An Unusual Project
I was asked to cover up the excessive ornamental details in this painting purchased in China. Matching color to the original painting can be challenging. Fortunately, this is exactly what we’ve been covering in class lately and I was excited to have a real-world example to show my students.
Lots of Yellow
I was surprised but also not surprised to discover that most of the painting was created using colors straight out of the tube – a common feature of paintings churned out in China’s “art factories”. Yellow Ochre dominated my palatte throughout.
