Foil Part Deux
Experimenting With Leaves
This is an extension of our first attempt at foil relief art. You’ll find full instructions there. We had a lot of absences so we needed a quick bridging project. I set the students who had finished the first foil project loose in the schoolyard to find leaves for a fast second project.
The secret to leaves is applying a nice amount of glue to the backside of the leaves and spraying a good solid coat of spray adhesive on the backside of the aluminum. This way, putting it all together, it forms a firm sandwich. You will need to hold the leaf down for a bit so the glue has time to set.
The Results
Some students were quite happy not adding any color at all. Others added color all over. The most successful pieces were where the leaves were left plain with a brightly colored background.
